SPORT KAPELA

Kapela is a joyful duel game from northern Poland, traditionally played by shepherds. One player, the “Chapelmaster”, stands in the center with a small stone tower (the “chapel”) and a hat on their head. Surrounding players take turns throwing balls to knock down the chapel. If successful, the thrower must retrieve their ball and return before the Chapelmaster rebuilds the chapel and hits them with the hat. If hit, they become the new Chapelmaster. The game has no winners or losers and encourages spontaneous, active fun. It can be adapted for people with disabilities by using bright colors, assistants, or playing on a flat surface.
