On 25-29th of April, 2024 technical and educational workshops were organized by Italian project partner A.S. D. DisBoccia Association as a task within the framework of the Dis+Abled SPORT Project. An extremely interesting, innovative implementation of yoga for able bodied and people with disabilities (Dis+Abled YOGA) was presented by yoga specialists – Maria Carolina Uscategui and Edward Thomas Blan.“Dis + Abled SPORT” – sports and games designed to be played by people with physical & visual disabilities alongside with able-bodied; An innovative approache to increase Social Inclusion and Equal Opportunities in Sport. Z przyjemnością prezentujemy projekt promocyjny “Boccia on tour – Lombardia 2024”, który przybliży nasz sport do różnych województw naszego regionu. The main goal of the “DisAbled SPORT – Erasmus+Sport Project planned from Q3 2022 to Q5 2025 is to create an attractive tool for the integration of people with disabilities with able-bodied people through sport, in the form of a handbook with 40-60 Paralympic, traditional sports and games. At the moment we have described about 30 sports . One of them is Boccia. ASD Disboccia has been involved in the dissemination of Paralympic Boccia since November 2018, when it was founded. This activity has recently benefited from the close collaboration of the municipal administrations of Orbassano and Bricherasio, where our athletes train.Both administrations have supported us, and they still do it, to bring boccia to schools and squares in the Piedmont region.In the view of the Dis+Abled SPORT meeting, whose Italian stage will be held from 25-29 April 2024 in the province of Turin, on 12th of September 2023, ASD Disboccia held a meeting with the regional sports authorities, promoted by councillor Marocco of the municipality of Orbassano and attended by the participants where the Project and the organisation of the event to be held on 27 April in Orbassano were discussed.Present at the meeting were the President of the Orbassano Sports Advisory Council, Sergio Battaglino, the Councillor for Culture, Twinning and Associations of the Municipality of Orbassano, Andrea Emilio Nava, the Councillor for Sport of the Municipality of Orbassano, Paolo Giovanni Marocco, the Regional Councillor for Internationalisation, Sport, and Youth Policies, Fabrizio Ricca, The President of the ASD Disboccia, Elisa Dagmara Gili, the Vice-President and contact person for international activities, Danuta Ligenza Gili, and the Disboccia Coach and Referee of the Italian Boccia Federation, Giuseppe Gili.There were also present the representatives of the leader of the Dis+Abled SPORT Project – START Association from Poland – Beata Dobak-Urbanska and Romuald Schmidt, who, in addition to their roles in the START Association and Polish Boccia Association, are both members of the Polish Paralympic Committee.The meeting was timely, as ASD Disboccia will host its first international Project event in April 2024, with the participation of Croatia, the Czech Republic and Poland. ( Vukovar, Osijek 26-30.04.2023) within the framework of the international Erasmus+ Sport project “Dis+Abled SPORT – sports and games designed to be played by people with physical & visual disabilities alongside with able-bodied; an innovative approach to increase Social Inclusion and Equal Opportunities in Sport”.During the meeting in Croatia, project partners participated in, among others:1. Practical activities with students of the University of Physical Education in Osijek – a group of dozens of students and volunteers had the opportunity to play the fastest growing Paralympic sport – Boccia , Ringo etc. The students were very engaged and enthusiastically accepted a gift from the host of the meeting – a professional boccia set.2. Presentation on the objectives of the project, with particular emphasis on the creation of a manual with dozens of games and Paralympic sports, traditional and recreational, adapted for joint practice by people with and without disabilities (the main objective of the Project). Exchange of good practices, discussion of the progress to date on the tasks of the project.3.
