Dis+Abled SPORT Pljočke

Pljočke is an ancient Croatian precision-throwing game, played on a rectangular field where two teams compete to place their “pljočke” closest to a target called the “bulin.” Each round begins with a team throwing the bulin and their first pljočka, followed by alternating throws between teams. Points are scored for each pljočka that is closer to the bulin than the opposing team’s closest piece. The game continues until a team reaches 13 points. Pljočke emphasizes skill, technique, and strategic placement, allowing players to both score points and disrupt the opponent’s positioning. The game is highly adaptable for players with disabilities: the playing surface can be raised or made mobile, pieces can be enlarged or fitted with tactile elements, and adaptive tools such as long sticks or mechanical launchers can assist in throwing. Wheelchair users can participate fully with team collaboration, and rules or pace can be adjusted for comfort and accessibility, making Pljočke an inclusive, engaging, and socially interactive sport.
