Dis+Abled SPORT DODGEBALL

Dodgeball is a fast-paced team sport played with a soft ball, where the goal is to eliminate opposing players by hitting them while avoiding being hit. Typically, two teams of 6 to 12 players compete on a rectangular court divided by a middle line, with “dead zones” behind each team. Players are eliminated when hit but can return to play if a teammate catches the ball. The game ends when one team is fully eliminated or when a set time expires, with the team having more players remaining declared the winner. Dodgeball emphasizes strategy, reflexes, and teamwork. Adaptations make it accessible for all: courts can be smaller or smoother for wheelchair use, lighter balls can be used, throwing rules can be adjusted, and clear visual or tactile boundaries help guide players with visual impairments. This flexibility ensures Dodgeball remains an inclusive, engaging, and safe sport for participants of all ages and abilities.
