ASD Disboccia has been involved in the dissemination of Paralympic Boccia since November 2018, when it was founded. This activity has recently benefited from the close collaboration of the municipal administrations of Orbassano and Bricherasio, where our athletes train.
Both administrations have supported us, and they still do it, to bring boccia to schools and squares in the Piedmont region.
In the view of the Dis+Abled SPORT meeting, whose Italian stage will be held from 25-29 April 2024 in the province of Turin, on 12th of September 2023, ASD Disboccia held a meeting with the regional sports authorities, promoted by councillor Marocco of the municipality of Orbassano and attended by the participants where the Project and the organisation of the event to be held on 27 April in Orbassano were discussed.
Present at the meeting were the President of the Orbassano Sports Advisory Council, Sergio Battaglino, the Councillor for Culture, Twinning and Associations of the Municipality of Orbassano, Andrea Emilio Nava, the Councillor for Sport of the Municipality of Orbassano, Paolo Giovanni Marocco, the Regional Councillor for Internationalisation, Sport, and Youth Policies, Fabrizio Ricca, The President of the ASD Disboccia, Elisa Dagmara Gili, the Vice-President and contact person for international activities, Danuta Ligenza Gili, and the Disboccia Coach and Referee of the Italian Boccia Federation, Giuseppe Gili.
There were also present the representatives of the leader of the Dis+Abled SPORT Project – START Association from Poland – Beata Dobak-Urbanska and Romuald Schmidt, who, in addition to their roles in the START Association and Polish Boccia Association, are both members of the Polish Paralympic Committee.
The meeting was timely, as ASD Disboccia will host its first international Project event in April 2024, with the participation of Croatia, the Czech Republic and Poland. The event will offer an extraordinary experience of sport and social integration between people in the Italian side of the Dis+Abled SPORT event.
